Craspedia globosa, known as billy buttons, billy balls, and woollyheads, is a lovely annual plant in the Asteraceae family, native to Australia and New Zealand. It grows up to 60-70 cm tall, forming dense grass-like clumps. The most ornamental part of billy buttons is its flowers. It flowers in summer, producing spherical inflorescences 2-3 cm in diameter on the tops of stiff, leafless stems . These inflorescences consist of tiny, intense yellow flowers.
Billy ball are not only beautiful but also very durable. Cut flowers can remain fresh in a vase for up to two weeks. When dried, they also look great and can be used to create dry bouquets and floral compositions.
