Hydrangeas or hortensias are a type of flowering shrub (Hydrangea) with around 78 species. They naturally grow in East Asia and North America and are popular garden plants thanks to their beautiful and large flowers.
Hydrangeas are famous for their big, impressive flower heads that come in many shapes and colours (depending on the species and variety). They can be white, pink, blue, purple, even cream or two-toned.

Preserved hydrangeas is a natural product; the following characteristics may be present:
- Irregular size and shape of inflorescences;
- Bent or slightly damaged petals;
- Fragility and brittleness;
- Slight variations in shade between individual batches.
The bouquet may contain one or two stems.
To give the hydrangea a full and lush appearance, you can gently steam the petals (for example, with a garment steamer). The gentle heat and steam will help the petals open up, restore their shape, and allow the bouquet to showcase its beautiful, full appearance.
Conditions of use
Preserved plants do not require any special care, however, in order to keep their colour and shape for as long as possible, you should follow these recommendations:
- do not expose them to direct sunlight. Colours fade in the sun and lose their attractive appearance;
- keep them away from sources of heat;
- avoid contact of preserved plants with water – do not water or spray;
- remember that preserved plants can break or become brittle, so handle them gently;
- do not use for outdoor decoration.
